KookinSurf is a surf logbook for Apple Watch and iPhone. Start a session with a turn of the crown, paddle out, and come back to a record of where you surfed, for how long, at what tide, on which board — and every wave you rode. ON THE WATCH • Start, lock and end a session with the Digital Crown — no fumbling with wet fingers • Heart rate and calories from the workout, GPS track of your session • The tide now and the next high or low, predicted offline — no signal needed at the break • Water temperature measured by the watch itself (Apple Watch Ultra, Series 10 or later) • Pick the board you're riding before you go in • "Still surfing?" — a tap on the wrist if you leave the water on a boat or in a car with the session still running • A tide complication for your watch face ON THE PHONE • Every session with its map, your waves, the tide through your session and a heart-rate chart • Waves found in your track: how many, how far, how fast. Tap one to replay it, choose how strict the count is, and strike out the ones that weren't waves • Tilt and turn the map to see the break the way you surfed it • Spots named automatically from more than 8,000 breaks worldwide; search Apple Maps for any other, or add your own • Your breaks on a world map or a globe, grouped by country, with how often and how long you surfed each • Trips: sessions grouped by where you travelled, each under a photograph of the place • Stats by year and month: sessions, time in the water, and a chart to see the seasons • Quiver: your boards with photos and sizes, and how many sessions each one has had • Share a session as a picture, ready for Instagram: your rides on the satellite map with the numbers FORECAST • Swell, wind, tide, sunrise and sunset, air and water temperature for the next seven days, anywhere on the map • Swell arrows across the map, so you can see what's arriving where • A home-screen widget with the day's tide, swell and wind at your spot; tap it for the full forecast YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS • Sessions are Apple Health workouts. Boards, spot names and ratings live in your own iCloud. There is no KookinSurf account and no server of ours holding your history • Already tracked surfs with another app? Import them from Apple Health in Profile, read-only — we never change or delete another app's data. GPX and Garmin FIT files import too • Export everything to one JSON file — every session, track, heart rate, spot and board — and import it back on a new phone TIDES, OFFLINE Tides are worked out on your device: from a tide gauge where one stands near the break, and from a global ocean tide model everywhere else, so each break gets its own tide rather than one borrowed from a harbour far away. They work on a reef with no coverage and in airplane mode. The forecast needs a connection; everything else works without one. KookinSurf needs an Apple Watch to record sessions. Sessions from other apps, manual entries and imported files work on the iPhone alone.
