Verdict
The clearest difference is ads: Shamy Stores at none against KontrolFreek's shown. Shamy Stores also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.1). KontrolFreek's advantage is update cadence (every 3 weeks vs every 3 months) and ratings volume (607 vs 89). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for KontrolFreek against 4.8 for Shamy Stores. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: KontrolFreek has 607 ratings behind it against 89, so its average is the more settled of the two.
KontrolFreek ships an update every 3 weeks, Shamy Stores every 3 months. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
