This app is designed to implement the taxonomy (classification system) for modes of mechanical ventilation described by Chatburn et al (Respir Care 2014;59(11):1747-1763). It has manufacturer, model, and ventilator image for most of the ventilators used across the world.
ROX Index
This medical app assists doctors and students in calculating the ROX index, a tool to predict the success or failure of High-Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) therapy, primarily studied in pneumonia patients. It simplifies the calculation using SpO2, FiO2, and Respiratory Rate.
- ROX index calculation
- Predicts HFNC success/failure
- Primarily for pneumonia patients
- Uses SpO2, FiO2, and RR
- Assists doctors and medical students

The application is designed for doctors and medical students that helps to calculate ROX. ROX is an index that is formulated to predict the chance of success or failure of HFNC. It has been studied mostly in patients with Pneumonia. It is calculated as – Oxygen saturation (SpO2) / Fraction of Inspired Oxygen (FiO2) X Respiratory rate (RR) (Range for SpO2 : 70% – 100%, Range for FiO2 : 21% – 100%, Range for RR : 12/min – 70/min) As is obvious, the higher the index, the better is the chance of success. Verdict
The clearest difference is update cadence: ROX Index at every 3 weeks against Ventilator Mode Map's every 3 months. ROX Index also leads on rating (5.0 vs 4.8) and iOS requirement (11.0 vs 17.0). Ventilator Mode Map's advantage is ratings volume (8 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
