Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: StarEye at 3.0 against FOWL's 2.1. StarEye also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs monthly). FOWL's advantage is review sentiment (24% vs 12%) and ratings volume (59 vs 18). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FOWL sells 18 one-off in-app purchases and StarEye sells 16 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

StarEye holds the better App Store score, 3.0 against 2.1. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 59 and 18 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 24% of FOWL's written reviews are positive against 12% of StarEye's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

FOWL ships an update monthly, StarEye fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
