Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is update cadence: Workout Planner at every 3 days against Blast's every 3 weeks. Workout Planner also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.5). On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and ads there is nothing between them.

Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Workout Planner sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month and Blast sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Workout Planner holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.5. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 22 and 8 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 88% of Workout Planner's written reviews are positive against 92% of Blast's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Workout Planner ships an update every 3 days, Blast every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 29, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
