Forgot the tent stakes. Left the fuel canister on the kitchen counter. Discovered the headlamp batteries were dead at dusk. Bivouac exists so that never happens again. Most packing apps are built for airports. Bivouac is built for the trailhead: a 20-item core camp kit you tune per trip, three proven templates, a progress ring that tells you the moment you are ready, and a field journal that keeps last trip's lesson next to this trip's list. No account, no signal required. WHAT YOU GET • Arrive at camp with every critical piece of gear — a core kit covering shelter, sleep, lighting, water, cooking, food, tools, safety, clothing and navigation • Pack for this trip, not every trip — toggle gear in or out per outing, then check it off as it hits the pack • Know exactly how ready you are — a packed-versus-total ring shows the percentage and flips to READY when the last item is in • Start from a kit that already works — apply the Ultralight, Weekend or Winter template in one tap and adjust from there • Stop repeating the same mistake — log date, location, weather and the lesson after every night out, sorted newest first • Make the kit yours — add custom gear with its own icon and category, or reset to the default kit before a new season PERFECT FOR • Fast-and-light overnighters who count every gram • Weekend backcountry trips that need a full 2–3 night setup • Cold-weather outings where one missing layer is a real problem • Car camping with the crew, when someone always asks who brought the stove WHY NOT JUST USE A NOTES APP? A note does not know that a tarp replaces a tent on an ultralight trip. It does not clear the checkmarks when you unpack, and it buries the lesson from Lost Coast three screens away from the list for Yosemite. Bivouac keeps the kit, the per-trip toggles and the field notes in one place, so the next pack-out starts from what you learned, not from a blank page. PRIVATE BY DEFAULT Everything lives on your device. No sign-up, no login, no analytics, no ads, and nothing leaves the phone. Open it at a trailhead with zero bars and it works exactly the same. FULL ACCESS Bivouac is a paid app. Full access is available as a weekly subscription, a yearly subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and can be managed or cancelled in your App Store account settings. The lifetime option is a single payment with no renewal. Download Bivouac, apply the Weekend template, and have a complete kit checked off before your next night out. The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Damp App at none against Camping Checklist's 2. Damp App also leads on device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). On price, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.
