Both are free to download. CommBoards sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Nonverbal Communicator asks for nothing beyond the download.
CommBoards holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 1.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CommBoards has 96 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 33% of CommBoards's written reviews are positive against 50% of Nonverbal Communicator's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
CommBoards ships an update every 4 days, Nonverbal Communicator every 12 months. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
