This app is made by the PulmonaryScan Team (not Haritha Katta) We started PulmonaryScan with one goal in mind: educate individuals with bad smoking/vaping habits about the dangers and health risks it imposes on their body, and possibly help them in their journey to become addiction-free. Watching our high school peers greatly harming their fundamental organs gave us a unique perspective on the widespread usage of harmful substances. Additionally, we also understood how pressing other lung issues were to society through research into lung-related diseases. Specifically, COPD was an affliction that we saw as extremely pressing. With that in mind, we wanted to make educational information about COPD and lung health more accessible to users. After weeks of development, PulmonaryScan was born. With a simplistic design and easy to use interface, PulmonaryScan is divided into 5 sections, which are detailed below: Sober Counter: The Sober Counter is a multi-faceted approach to helping those on a path to staying smoking free on their journey. Users can start a counter to track how long they have stayed abstinent from smoking or vaping, view their previous streaks, and restart their counter if they return to using these products. Additionally, users can record cigarette and vaping use through the Personal Use Tracker and view estimated financial savings based on their usage information. These features allow users to see their progress throughout their journey, hopefully encouraging them to keep up their great work. COPD & Lung Health: This section provides educational information about COPD, bronchitis, emphysema, common symptoms, risk factors, and other lung health topics. Users can learn more about these conditions through general educational content. This section does not screen for or diagnose COPD, calculate personal medical risk, measure lung function, or recommend medication or treatment. Users with breathing concerns should seek evaluation by a qualified healthcare professional. Body Map: The Body Map is an interactive interface in which users can tap into the different body systems to see how smoking specifically affects each part of one's body. Users can read the facts on how smoking affects the capabilities of one's Brain, Mouth/Throat, Heart, Lungs, Stomach, and Reproductive System. Effects of Vaping: Users will be taken to a screen where the raw facts of the downsides of Vaping are shown. Additionally, buttons are presented on the screen that lead to more supplementary reading on this harmful practice by leading scientific websites. PulmoDaily: This part of the app will directly take you to PulmoDaily educational articles within PulmonaryScan. You can read information about smoking, vaping, lung health, and related topics without leaving the app. PulmonaryScan is a living app that adapts when new information presents itself, much like Science. We aim to address factual errors and bug issues as they are identified. In efforts to maintain optimal user feedback, please contact support@pulmonaryscan.app if you notice any issue occurrences.
