Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is review sentiment: NFC TagKit at 100% against NFC's 60%. NFC TagKit also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 2) and ads (none vs shown). NFC's advantage is update cadence (fortnightly vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (96 vs 1). On price, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. NFC sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.49 per month. NFC TagKit asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

NFC holds the better App Store score, 4.3 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: NFC has 96 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of NFC's written reviews are positive against 100% of NFC TagKit's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

NFC ships an update fortnightly, NFC TagKit every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
