About

Chiado

Features

Chiado is the Portuguese word for a hiss — the sound of static. It's also a neighbourhood in Lisbon. Chiado plays white, pink and brown noise, generated live on your device rather than looped from a recording, so it never repeats and never runs out. Pick a colour, or use the blend slider to sit anywhere between them. Brighter for masking a room; deeper for something you stop noticing. THREE COLOURS White — bright and airy. Even across the spectrum. Pink — soft and balanced. The one most people settle on. Brown — deep and rumbly. Weighted to the low end. A SLEEP TIMER THAT FADES Set a duration and the sound eases down to silence instead of stopping dead. BUILT FOR LEAVING RUNNING Keeps playing when you lock the phone or switch apps. Full lock-screen and Control Centre controls. A Live Activity and Dynamic Island so the timer is visible without opening the app. ASK SIRI "Play brown noise." "Set a Chiado sleep timer." QUIET BY DESIGN No account. No ads. No tracking, no analytics, no data collected — the app has no networking code at all. Nothing to subscribe to.
