The Mosque was founded back in 1989 by Messrs MeahMonirul-Alom, Abdul Aziz, Nurul Islam Mahbub, Bajloor Rashid MBE, the late Babu Miah and the late Moynur Rashid. Like many mosques around the country, South East Kent Islamic Cultural Centre (βSEKICCβ) was originally formed by Bangladeshi restaurateurs looking to bring together the local Muslim community by establishing a dedicated place of worship to practice their faith. As the community grew, so did its needs and in turn the scope of work carried out by SEKICC grew commensurately. Today, modern day SEKICC are engaged in educational programmes, art projects, inter-faith forums and community events. Whilst there have been inevitable changes to the board of Trustees in the preceding 30 years, the President, MeahMonirulAlom, Secretary, Nurul Islam Mahbub and Treasurer Abdul Aziz have remained the constant, selflessly dedicating their time to help establish SEKICC as a leading example in the community. With one eye on the future and succession planning, in 2017 the Trustees bed in the next generation by tasking them with management duties. Consequently, a new sub-committee was formed comprising of members which reflect the diverse demographic of the community SEKICC serves, including a range of ages, ethnicities, and nationalities. The sub-committeeβs role was to focus on the day-to-day management of SEKICCβs core activities, namely worship and related activities at the masjid. A new mission statement was prepared, and the masjid was re-branded as βFolkestone Mosqueβ. The Folkestone Mosque committee now deal with the general administration and maintenance of the masjid as well as managing its growing online digital presence. In bringing together people from all walks of life, SEKICC and Folkestone Mosque not only provides a much-needed place of worship to serve the growing Muslim community, but also provides a hub for the exchange of ideas, education, and tolerance. --- If you like the App, please show us your support by submitting a review on the App store. Masjid Timetable shows your masjid's prayer times, exactly as your masjid publishes them. Choose your masjid once and the app opens on today every time: when each prayer begins, when the congregation prays, and a countdown to the next one. Published times are never rounded, adjusted or recalculated. Masjids Around the World Search over 190,000 masjids in more than 190 countries by name, town or postcode, see the ones around you on a map, or find the nearest. Where Apple Maps knows a masjid, its pin sits where Apple Maps shows it. A masjid marked Published has sent us its own timetable, and it appears once, in place of any other listing of it. For every other masjid the app shows beginning times worked out from its position, clearly marked Calculated, so you always know which is which. Can't find yours? Search Apple Maps from the Masjids tab, or drop your own pin. Away From Home Travel to another country or time zone and the app notices, offers prayer times for where you are, worked out the way that country does it, and goes back to your masjid when you are home. What It Does See when each prayer begins and when the congregation prays, with sunrise, and suhur and zawΔl where your masjid gives them, and a live countdown to the next prayer. Look ahead with the whole month on one page, swiping between months, with Fridays shaded. Get a reminder before each salaah at the lead time you choose, and keep the day's times on your home screen and lock screen with widgets. Add a second masjid, for work or family, one tap away. Find the masjids around you on a map, with directions to any of them, and get prayer times wherever you travel. On iPhone, the Qibla finder turns green when you are facing the Qibla. Choose colourful or plain, in light, dark or matching your phone. Hijri dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar. Private by Design No account, no sign-in, no adverts and no tracking. Your choices stay on your phone. Location is used only to find masjids near you, to measure the Qibla from where you are, and to notice when you have travelled. It is used on the device and is never sent to us. The map comes from Apple Maps, which also answers searches and helps place the pins, under Apple's own privacy policy. For Masjids Masjids can register at masjidtimetable.org to publish their own timetable. Phones pick up new times the next time the app is opened, or at once with Check Now in Settings. The app has been developed by Abid Patel, Founder and CEO of ITjustworks. If you find the app useful, please remember Abid and his family in your duas.
