Fold a sheet of paper into a tiny friend and watch it take its first steps. Every Foldling you fold comes to life in your Haven, a cut-paper world of weather, seasons and surprises, where they play, nap, make best friends and wait for you to come back. MADE FOR IPHONE DUO Fold your phone to fold the paper. Bend it and your Haven tips, friends sliding toward the crease. Close it and your new friend hops out onto the cover screen to keep you company, then open it again and everyone is right where you left them. On every other iPhone and on iPad, simple touch gestures guide each crease. FOLD SOMETHING WONDERFUL Follow the glowing corners and dotted lines, one satisfying crease at a time. Choose their paper, earn stars for careful folds and chain perfect creases into streaks. Even the friends you find in lanterns and eggs are folded by your own hands, and every now and then a new friend comes out sparkly. A HAVEN THAT'S ALIVE Tap a tree and leaves fall and birds take off. Hold a finger still and a butterfly lands on it. Plant a garden that grows over real hours. Leave a treat in the visitor dish and find out who came while you were away; every wild visitor leaves a memento the first time. Each season brings its own visitor and papers, and holidays bring their own surprises, including holiday friends who come only on the day itself. LITTLE FRIENDS, BIG PERSONALITIES Feed them their favorite treats, give them a gentle pet and throw a ball for them to fetch. Every Foldling has its own quirks, markings and memories, and as your bond grows they share stories from their lives. Friends become best friends, visit one another and stay for sleepovers. Dress them up: every outfit does something, from a chef's hat that makes meals go further to a wizard's hat that turns tricks into spells. MAKE A HOME TOGETHER Build paper houses and fill them with furniture and wallpaper. Invite friends in for tea, a story by the fire, a dance or a party. Your first home is free. REBUILD THE WORLDS Every world has a landmark in ruins: a Greenhouse, a Lighthouse, an Observatory and more. Send your friends on building shifts, then drop each piece into place yourself. Rebuilt landmarks bring lasting rewards and a rare friend who moves in. LANTERNS, EGGS AND LEGENDS Light paper lanterns with the cranes you earn to find rare papers, outfits and remarkable friends: the nine-tailed Kitsune, the Moon Rabbit, Seiryu the azure dragon and more. Hatch paper eggs, and watch friends molt into Golden, Galaxy or Prism paper. Every lantern shows its exact odds before you open it, and lanterns are only ever earned by playing. SEVEN WORLDS The Meadow, the Seaside, Snowy Peaks, Autumn Woods, Desert Oasis, Sakura Grove and Firefly Night, each with its own weather, wild visitors and things to do. PLAY TOGETHER Six arcade games starring your Foldlings: run a lantern-lit shrine path, glide through lantern gates, sled down snowy hills, fish, drop cranes down a festival board and stack your friends sky-high. Or take them into Paper Battles, fast and friendly duels on floating paper stages: train against five Dojo masters, or challenge someone nearby. TRADE FOLDLINGS WITH FRIENDS Meet in person and trade with Paper Post on nearby devices, no internet needed. Send friends over for a playdate, and every Foldling carries a passport that remembers everyone who has cared for them. ON YOUR HOME SCREEN Add the Haven widget to see a friend in their world, what they're up to and who's on the way home. Pet them or give them a treat right from your home screen. No ads, no subscriptions, no account needed. Play offline; your Haven is backed up through iCloud. Optional one-time purchases add new Foldling friends, worlds, papers and hats, each shown in full before you buy. Paper cranes and lanterns are only ever earned by playing: nothing random is for sale.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: Foldlings at 5.0 against Pixicade's 4.5. Foldlings also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 3 days vs every 4 weeks). Pixicade's advantage is ratings volume (4.2K vs 1) and iOS requirement (9.0 vs 26.0). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pixicade sells 17 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Foldlings sells 9 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

Foldlings holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pixicade has 4.2K ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Pixicade ships an update every 4 weeks, Foldlings every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on November 1, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
