Verdict
The clearest difference is monetization model: ZELLU at free with in-app purchases against MD Clock's subscription. ZELLU also leads on rating (4.9 vs 4.6). MD Clock's advantage is ratings volume (6.6K vs 15). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MD Clock sells 14 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and ZELLU sells 10 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
ZELLU holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: MD Clock has 6.6K ratings behind it against 15, so its average is the more settled of the two.
MD Clock ships an update every 9 days, ZELLU every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
