Verdict
Nexus Reminder and AYD both sit at 4.8 stars, but that hides the real split: 42% of Nexus Reminder's written reviews are positive against 2% of AYD's. AYD's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 3) and ads (none vs shown). On price, rating, update cadence and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Nexus Reminder sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $8.99 per month. AYD asks for nothing beyond the download.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.8 for Nexus Reminder against 4.9 for AYD. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AYD has 314 ratings behind it against 13, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 42% of Nexus Reminder's written reviews are positive against 2% of AYD's.
Nexus Reminder ships an update every 3 weeks, AYD monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 20, 2026 and October 27, 2026 respectively.
