Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Time Notes at 75% against App Lock's 33%. Time Notes also leads on ads (none vs shown) and device support (5 vs 2). App Lock's advantage is rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Time Notes sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $0.49 per month and App Lock sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
App Lock holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 13 and 4 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Time Notes's written reviews are positive against 33% of App Lock's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 20, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
