MindBackyard
Read full descriptionHide full description
MindBackyard is a space to move through and move thoughts around. Wander. Explore. Give thoughts places. Move them around. Change your perspective. Or spend some time somewhere with less asking for your attention. No task to finish. No score to improve. No particular outcome required. THOUGHT SPACE Sometimes a thought doesn't need to become a task, note, or something to solve. It may simply need a place. Thought Space lets you bring thoughts into a spatial environment as Thought Blocks. Move them closer. Move them farther away. Put one somewhere that feels right. Move it again when it doesn't. Thought Space doesn't decide what a thought means or where it belongs. You decide how you want to place it. THOUGHT BLOCKS Thoughts in Thought Space become Thought Blocks that you can move around. A Thought Block can have a position, distance, and orientation within the space. It can also have Mental Steps connected to it, keeping possible paths available with a thought without requiring you to follow them. You can arrange thoughts without organizing them into a list, priority system, or productivity structure. The arrangement can change whenever you want it to. CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE Thought Space can be viewed from different perspectives. The thoughts don't have to change. Sometimes you can simply change where you're looking from. INFINITE HALLWAY MindBackyard also gives your attention somewhere to wander. Walk through an infinite hallway. Open low-stakes doors. Visit rooms and chambers. Return to places you've visited before. Or just keep walking. There is nowhere you need to be. MindBackyard is not about progress. It is simply a place where attention can move. ROOMS AND CHAMBERS Behind the doors, you may discover spaces such as: • Tactile Noise • Pebble Garden • Rain Window • Floating Orbs • Quiet Library • Solitary Light • Firefly Glade • Perspective Room • MindAnchor Chamber THOUGHT FADE MindBackyard can receive thoughts from other MINDBEBOP tools. A thought can appear briefly and then fade from view. No analysis required. No action required. No need to turn it into a task. MENTAL STEPS Thought Blocks in Thought Space can be connected to saved Mental Steps in MindEntry. A thought can have one path or several. They can stay connected until you want to use one. Choose one and MindEntry opens the Mental Steps so you can begin navigating from there. MindBackyard can also be used as a Mental Step within Mental Steps in MindEntry. Mental Steps can open MindBackyard, give your attention room to move, and return you to the same active Mental Step when you're ready to continue. NOT A PRODUCTIVITY SPACE MindBackyard is not a task manager, knowledge graph, or productivity canvas. Thoughts don't have to become tasks. Thought Blocks don't have to form a system. Connected Mental Steps don't have to be started. Wandering doesn't have to lead anywhere. You can organize something if you want to. Or simply move things around. PART OF MINDBEBOP MINDBEBOP is a modular system designed to reduce Thought Noise, support Mental Navigation, and anchor successful mental states. MindBackyard provides space within that system — for thoughts to have places and for attention to move without requiring a destination. DESIGNED TO STAY LIGHTWEIGHT • 100% free • No subscriptions • No accounts • No tracking • No analytics • No cloud storage • Everything stays on your device • Optional tips are available if you'd like to support a solo developer Sometimes you want to do something with a thought. Sometimes you don't. MindBackyard gives both somewhere to happen. Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
