About

Allwhere

Features

Allwhere quietly notices where you stop, and keeps it as a journal you can write in. No check-ins. No account. Nothing of yours is uploaded, ever. THE HALF EVERYONE ELSE LEAVES OUT Apps that remember where you have been tend to do one of two things. Some draw your movement on a map and leave you nothing to say about it. Others hand you a blank page and wait for you to check in, pin and type — and by the third day you have stopped. Allwhere does both halves. It fills itself in while your phone is in your pocket, and what it fills in is a page you can actually write on. YOUR DAY, AS A THREAD Open Allwhere and today reads from the top down: the places you stopped, in order, with the time you spent at each one. Add a line to any of them. A sentence about the coffee. The photo you just took. A spoken note while you are still walking. It is filed under the place and the moment it belongs to, without you telling it where. • Routes — your day drawn on a map, every stop along it • World — every place you have ever logged, gathered across the years • Search — find anything by word, place, tag, or even by what is pictured in your photos • Import — build a timeline of your past from the photos already on this phone NOTES THAT ARE ACTUALLY WRITING A note here is a page, not a caption. Bold, italic, headings, bullet and numbered lists, and colour you choose yourself. A photograph sits across the full width of the note; touch and hold one while you are writing to move it to the paragraph where it belongs. Attach a voice note, a video, a boarding pass, a PDF. Unfinished notes are kept as drafts and are still there tomorrow. PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION Your stops, notes, photos, recordings and coordinates stay in this app, on this device. There is no account to create, no sync, no server, no analytics and no advertising — not switched off by default, but absent. The map and the place names come from Apple Maps, so a coordinate goes to Apple to draw the map and name a stop; never your notes, your photos or your journal. When you want your journal elsewhere, export it yourself as GPX or as a full backup. It is yours to take. BUILT TO BE LEFT ON Battery is the reason journals like this get deleted. Allwhere starts in a low-power mode that leans on what iOS already keeps track of, and costs almost nothing. If you want street-level detail, Detailed mode is one tap away — and it tells you what it costs before you choose it. FOR ANYONE WHOSE LIFE IS WORTH A LINE People who travel and want the trip written down while it is still happening. People who work across a dozen sites a week and need to know where they were on the eleventh. Walkers, cyclists, photographers, expats, anyone keeping a diary who is tired of remembering the date and the place before they can start writing. FREE, AND PLUS Recording where you have been, writing about it, attaching photos and searching all of it is free, and stays free. Allwhere Plus is a one-time purchase — not a subscription — that adds the all-time World map, spoken notes, videos and file attachments, and imports reaching further back than the past month. Buy it once, on this Apple Account, for good. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
