De VriendenLoterij Open Monumentendag wordt ieder jaar in het tweede (volledige) weekend van september georganiseerd door stichting Nederland Monumentenland in samenwerking met meer dan 300 lokale comités en 18.000 vrijwilligers door het hele land. Duizenden monumenten openen tijdens de Open Monumentendag in heel Nederland haar deuren voor het grote publiek, om zo de publieke belangstelling voor monumenten en het draagvlak voor monumentenzorg te vergroten. Tevens worden ontelbaar veel activiteiten georganiseerd: tentoonstellingen, rondleidingen, fietsroutes, wandelingen, muziekvoorstellingen maar ook veel activiteiten voor jongeren.
