NOTE: Before using SWTracker, please read the support FAQ questions: https://rvtechtools.com/support.html#swtrackerfaq. If you have any issues, please contact me at support@rvtechtools.com. Check out usage videos on my YouTube SWTracker playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLI-_B2o7AiPoCGkzte6dfeUqrgkpV3b_4 SWTracker is the 2nd generation of SWConnect, the IOS tracking option for interfacing to the personal tracking manager, Spotwalla.com. Spotwalla has transitioned to a new website, and with that a new JSON based API. This change necessitated a rewrite of SWconnect, and gave me the chance to update to newer approved networking frameworks, using the newer Apple supported language, Swift. SWTracker allows user to connect and track their travels on the new SpotWalla website: https://new.spotwalla.com. Spotwalla is a secure location manager, which supports several different devices (both physical and app based) for keeping track of location during travels. It is routinely used by long distance motorcycle riders, cyclists, boaters and even RV owners. SWTracker allow you to connect with your account on Spotwalla, and tracks your progress on a timed basis. IOS users previously were able to use the Google Latitude app to share their location with SpotWalla, however, Latitude was discontinued in August, 2013. SWTracker is intended to run in the background. General use once logged in, is to simply enable tracking, put the app in the background, put your phone in your pocket or phone stand and ride. Your location points will be stored with the device information on SpotWalla, and you can create custom trips which show your location over a specified time period. BATTERY USAGE INFO: SWTracker uses GPS information, and as such battery use will be similar to most navigation type of applications. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. SWTracker now uses a new lower GPS accuracy strategy when the application is running on battery alone in the background, however it is always suggested to use external power when possible, and to turn off tracking in the app controls during periods when you are not moving.

Every crew knows the drill. The ride gets planned in a Facebook group or Insta story, the meet point changes in a story that is gone by morning, half the crew answers in three different chats, and Sunday starts with "wait, where are we meeting?" Rideout Moto puts one ride, one plan and one crew in one place, and nothing disappears. ONE CREW, INVITE ONLY. Start a crew, read a word-and-two-digits code over the intercom, and your riders are in. No profiles to browse, no strangers, no feed. THE RIDE, SETTLED. Propose a ride with a meet point, a kickstands-up time, stops and an optional GPX route. Everyone taps I'm in or Out, and the ride page shows exactly who is coming. Change the time and the whole crew hears about it. UP NEXT. The next ride sits on top with a countdown to roll-out and a one-tap handoff into Apple Maps, Google Maps or Waze. Add it to your calendar with one tap. A forecast for the ride day sits right on the card, from the US National Weather Service, MET Norway or Apple Weather, your pick in Settings. FIND A RIDE. Stop guessing when everyone is free. Riders mark their availability, you open a poll with a few windows, the crew votes, and the winner becomes a real ride with one tap. CREW CHAT THAT FITS A GLOVE. Every ride has its own chat with big one-tap replies (OMW, running late, fuel next exit) and reactions. It stays with the ride, not in a story that expires. MULTI-DAY TRIPS. Day plans, per-day stops, and a shared packing list for the long ones. BUILT FOR THE ROAD. An emergency card with a big dial button, two taps from the roster. A back-safe roll-up so nobody is left out on the road unnoticed. Keep-screen-awake for the tank bag. PRIVATE BY DESIGN. Your crew's data is visible to your crew and nobody else. No ads, no analytics, no tracking, no live location sharing. FULL CREW (optional). Crews stay free up to 3 riders. For a bigger crew, the organizer subscribes to Full Crew, $1.99 a month or $19.99 a year: one subscription covers up to 25 riders, and invited riders never pay. Payment is charged to your Apple Account; the subscription auto-renews unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel in your Apple Account settings. Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SWTracker at none against Rideout Moto's 2. SWTracker also leads on iOS requirement (15 vs 17.0). Rideout Moto's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs every 8 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
