Sing it back, in sur. Sangat is daily riyaz for Hindustani singing. The harmonium plays each line in your scale, with the tabla and tanpura, and waits while you sing it back. Turn on Listen, and Sangat shows which notes were off. SING IT BACK TO THE HARMONIUM The harmonium plays a line of sargam and holds its last note until sam. Then it's your turn. Repeat keeps it coming round, and a tap on a note repeats just its part. You can also sing along, with a breath after each line, or sing on your own to the tanpura. SITAR, BANSURI, VIOLIN OR A SINGER Switch one on, and it plays each line with the harmonium or in its place, at your Sa and in time with the tabla. They are recordings of real musicians. Free for 45 seconds of riyaz a day each. SEE WHICH NOTES WERE OFF Listen draws your voice under the notes as you sing. The line is green while you're in sur, and amber where you go low or high. After each line it names what slipped, like "Ma low". Practise these then plays that part until you sing it in sur twice. FIRST STEPS IN SUR: A COURSE FOR BEGINNERS Short steps, from holding Sa to singing Bhupali, Yaman and Bhairav: the swaras, alankars and finding sam on the way. KNOW YOUR SWARAS Hear any swara, name it by ear, or sing it from its name while Sangat listens, one to eight at a time. Swaras step by step takes you from Sa, Ga and Pa to all twelve. RAGAS, ALANKARS AND BANDISH • 85 ragas, each with its aroha, avaroha, pakad and paltas • 28 alankars, in any raga and any scale • 319 bandish in 12 ragas, taught line by line in their own taal (beta) TANPURA, TABLA, HARMONIUM AND SWARMANDAL All four play at your Sa, fine-tuned in cents. Not sure of your Sa? Sing any comfortable note, and Find my Sa sets it. Then play your take back on a harmonium: your notes, your pauses, your pacing. • Tanpura: 18 tunings and 3 plucking styles, or on its own as a drone • 70 taals — Teentaal, Ektaal, Jhaptaal, Rupak, Keherwa, Dadra, Deepchandi, Jhoomra and more, from vilambit to drut, 10 to 720 BPM. Tap the beat or sing a few notes, and the tabla takes your speed. All four are recordings of real instruments, each with a synthesised voice a tap away, and they keep playing when the screen locks. YOUR RIYAZ, KEPT Hear your riyaz back line by line, with each note marked. Put practices in order in a collection, and send it as one short link.
