Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: eNES at 4.4 against Node.js Lab's 3.9. eNES also leads on ratings volume (185 vs 24) and update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 5 weeks). Node.js Lab's advantage is review sentiment (64% vs 37%) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 16.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

Both are free to download. Node.js Lab sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and eNES sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

eNES holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.9. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: eNES has 185 ratings behind it against 24, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 64% of Node.js Lab's written reviews are positive against 37% of eNES's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Node.js Lab ships an update every 5 weeks, eNES every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 5, 2026 respectively.
