How often do you use a dictionary while watching a movie, reading a book or a web article in a foreign language? Probably often. Do you recall all those words or phrases which you used a dictionary for in 1 week? Probably not. You can use many applications: dictionaries, translators, memory cards and so on to build your vocabulary. Anyway it would require some manual work to recognize different word forms, phrases and idioms. Shlang makes things easier for you, all what you need is in one place - focus on unknown words before reading/watching: Words and Phrases - mark words or phrases you already know, they will be in your vocabulary and do not bother you next time; - let Shlang know about your language (English only atm) level and Shlang will be able to not show easy (for your level personally) words; - work with unknown words or phrases: - see definitions; - see examples; - translate to any language you want/know; - if still not sure you get familiar with a word or a phrase, mark the one "to repeat" so next time you face the one Shlang will help you to recall; - repeat any of the words or phrases from your vocabulary. Media - search for movie/TV subtitles - (soon) search for books - open (with Share) - web articles, - YouTube video with subtitles, - (soon) YouTube song with lyrics. - paste any text into Shlang. Languages - advanced support for English: grouping related words, phrase verbs, (soon) idioms; - support for 180+ languages: word extraction, translation; - auto detection of text language: useful for web articles when the language is not predefined like in movies or books.

See how the app is used in practice: https://youtu.be/Qk04Dhp0Zyo This app was specifically developed for the GPA (Growing Participation Approach) learning concept and enables targeted practice. With the app, you can now immediately see during exercises whether something was correct or incorrect and can directly practice the elements that are often wrong more intensively. With the app, you can practice anytime and anywhere and always have all your tiles with you. The app helps you associate a word (audio) with an image. Just like small children have always done. You can easily take pictures with your phone camera, use the internal library, or import them directly from your device. Create tiles in the app and print them as a PDF to learn them together with your language helper. # What is GPA? (www.growingparticipation.com) The Growing Participation Approach is a language learning concept based on interaction between the learner and a language mentor (native speaker). The goal is to first listen and understand. Speaking comes later, after hearing and internalizing the words/sounds many times. This app was designed to support exactly that, which is why it offers the following core features: - Create learning cards (audio recording with accompanying image/text) - Various practice options for these cards (Quick Dozen, Combination Exercise) - Image description (An image is captured and then described by the language mentor. The learner can then practice with it.) # Versatile use Perfect not only for languages, but also for: - Plant identification - Learning names - School knowledge - And much more – get creative! Available app languages: - العربية (Arabic) - Deutsch (German) - English - Español (Spanish) - Français (French) - हिन्दी (Hindi) - Italiano (Italian) - 日本語 (Japanese) - Polski (Polish) - Português (Portuguese) - Русский (Russian) - Türkçe (Turkish) - Українська (Ukrainian) (more on request) Main features: • Interactive flashcards – combination of audio and images • Intelligent repetition – based on your learning progress • Practice using an intelligent learning plan • Fast and effective management of your tiles • Offline-first – works without internet • Progress tracking – detailed statistics and iceberg analysis ### 100% Privacy All data stays on your device No analytics or tracking NO ads
