Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Cuneiform Drills at none against PPSSPP's 1. Cuneiform Drills also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 72%). PPSSPP's advantage is update cadence (every 4 weeks vs every 58 months) and ratings volume (2.8K vs 3). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. PPSSPP sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Cuneiform Drills asks for nothing beyond the download.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

PPSSPP holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: PPSSPP has 2.8K ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Cuneiform Drills's written reviews are positive against 72% of PPSSPP's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

Cuneiform Drills ships an update every 58 months, PPSSPP every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 26, 2026 respectively.
