Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: YumRead at 82% against Book Lovers App's 34%. YumRead also leads on rating (4.7 vs 4.0) and ratings volume (1.4K vs 148). Book Lovers App's advantage is ads (none vs shown). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Book Lovers App sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and YumRead sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
YumRead holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: YumRead has 1.4K ratings behind it against 148, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 34% of Book Lovers App's written reviews are positive against 82% of YumRead's.
Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 7, 2026 respectively.
