Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Tyler Transit at 4.7 against USRider's 3.5. Tyler Transit also leads on ratings volume (61 vs 8). USRider's advantage is monetization model (free vs ad-supported). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Tyler Transit holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tyler Transit has 61 ratings behind it against 8, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Tyler Transit's written reviews are positive against 80% of USRider's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Tyler Transit ships an update every 2 months, USRider every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on August 21, 2026 and September 24, 2026 respectively.
