Clon Minotaur Transparent Overdrive is modeled on The Klon Centaur* a guitar overdrive pedal developed between 1990 and 1994. The Clon Minotaur is characterized as a "transparent" overdrive, meaning it adds gain to the signal without significantly altering the tone of the guitar. Depending on the settings of the control knobs, the Clon Minotaur Transparent Overdrive can act mostly as a clean boost, adding mostly volume and minimal coloring to the sound. This can be used to drive the input valve stage of the virtual amplifier to use the characteristic distortion sound of an overdriven guitar amp. Clon Minotaur Transparent Overdrive controls can be set to distort the sound signal in the plugin, where two modeled germanium diodes can perform waveform clipping. The gain parameter controls the balance between the modeled diode clipping stage and the clean stage. The two signals are summed together before they interact with the other two controls, treble and volume. Works as a standalone app, AudioUnit v3 effect, or Inter-App Audio effect Legal Disclaimer: * Please note that all marks and models are all trademarks of their respective owners, which are in no way associated or affiliated with Nembrini Audio. Blindfold EQ is a freeware EQ plugin inspired by a quote by Matt Wallace from the book Recording Unhinged by Sylvia Massy. It has 4 bands (LowShelf, LowMid, HighMid, HighShelf), but each knob is blind. There are no indicators or numbers to show frequency values, gain values or Q values. You have to use your ears.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Clon Minotaur Overdrive holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 22 and 34 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 86% of Clon Minotaur Overdrive's written reviews are positive against 100% of Blindfold EQ's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
