The Mindfield eSense EEGenius is a new, state-of-the-art EEG device for home neurofeedback training. It was developed specifically for easy, intuitive use by end users after extensive planning and testing. Using Neurofeedback at home, a user can perform EEG-based training in a private environment. Different targets can be selected, for example: Improvement of attention and concentration, Improvement of cognitive skills, Training of calmness, composure and relaxation. Premade, included training programs are oriented to these goals, but it is also possible for so-called supervisors – professional users who can supervise end users – to create and evaluate their own, user-specific training protocols. During training, different displays and requirements provide motivation and analyses provide information about the training progress. What do you need? You need the physical eSense EEGenius device to use this app. You can read more about it and order it here: https://mindfield.de/en/esense-eegenius/ This is a web browser app to access the web app of the eSense EEGenius sensor. Please download and use it to use the eSense EEGenius sensor with web bluetooth for all iPad OS devices supporting bluetooth low energy. We highly recommend to use the eSense EEGenius with an iPad due to the larger screen. Please have a look at the demo videos, explaining the use of the device and the software here: https://www.esense-eegenius.com

About

Breath

Features

Breath is a guided breathing timer for one practice: slow, even breathing at about 5.5 breaths a minute. That rate is known as resonance breathing, or coherent breathing, and it is the pace used in HRV biofeedback. Two audio tracks ship inside the app, one short and one long. You open the app, tap one of two circles, and it begins. There is nothing to configure. HOW A SESSION GOES Each breath cycle lasts 11 seconds, about five and a half seconds in and five and a half out, cued by soft tones over an ambient bed. The audio keeps the rhythm, so there is nothing to count. Tap once during a session and the screen fades to black while the audio and the timer keep running. Eyes shut, or the phone face down. Tap again and it comes back, slowly. Audio continues when you lock the phone or switch apps. END finishes early, fading the audio out. A session under one minute is discarded. WHAT IT KEEPS Six weeks of practice as a quiet grid of dots, with your current streak, your total minutes, and your recent sessions. With your permission, each session is written to Apple Health as a Mindful Session. The Health permission is write-only. Breath asks for no read access at all, so it cannot see your heart rate, your heart rate variability, or anything else in Health. PRIVACY Breath collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party code, and the app makes no network requests of any kind. Both tracks are bundled inside the app, so it works in airplane mode. Your practice records stay in the app's own storage on your device. ABOUT THE RHYTHM Your heart rate already rises and falls with every breath you take. Breathing at about one cycle every eleven seconds, roughly 0.09 Hz, puts each breath in time with a rhythm the body already has, and the amplitude of heart rate variation reaches its maximum right there. That much is measurable, and it is why paced breathing at this frequency underlies HRV biofeedback. Whether it produces lasting change is a separate and less settled question. Breath keeps the rhythm and leaves that open. Breath is a breathing timer. It makes no medical claims, and it does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition.
