It helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, cut energy costs, and reduce the demand for new energy infrastructure. Each approved upgrade generates Victorian Energy Efficiency Certificates (VEECs), with each certificate representing one tonne of carbon emissions avoided. These certificates are sold to energy retailers to help them meet their annual emissions reduction targets.
