About

Crosswind Calculator

Features

A crosswind calculator that starts from the real report. Paste the METAR, pick the runway, and read the verdict: headwind or tailwind and crosswind, steady and gust, graded against your own personal minimums — plus density altitude and what it costs you. PASTE A METAR Copy the report from any source, paste it once, and the wind, gusts, temperature and altimeter fill both calculators. Read offline from the text you pasted — nothing is fetched, and the app shows you what it read before you use it. WIND COMPONENTS Pick the runway, dial the wind, add the gust. Headwind or tailwind and crosswind in knots, labeled from left or right, for the steady wind and for the gust. A tailwind gets a plain red banner that names the other end of the runway. THE ROSE A drawn compass rose with the runway strip at its magnetic heading, the wind arrow blowing in from its direction, and the wind broken into head and cross components from the field center. Tap it for the full-screen close-up. PERSONAL MINIMUMS Set your max crosswind and max gust factor, or save them per aircraft and switch with a tap. Every figure is green, amber from 80% of your limit, and red at it. The app grades; you decide. DENSITY ALTITUDE Field elevation, altimeter and temperature give pressure altitude and density altitude, with the ISA deviation and a plain note on what it means for performance. Optional dew point for the humidity effect. BEST RUNWAY Every runway 01 to 36 ranked by head and crosswind for the current wind, so the choice at a field with options takes one look. WORKS ANYWHERE Offline, no account, no subscription. Save any result; saved checks are one tap away on every tab. Training and planning aid — not for primary flight operations.
