Tofu

Tofu is a tiny bunny taskmaster who lives on your screen and chases the todos you've been avoiding. He doesn't accept "tomorrow." He doesn't accept "I'm tired." He nags. He stares. He waits. WHAT TOFU DOES • Captures your tasks into Inbox, Today, and Now buckets • Pulls you into focused work sessions (Pomodoro under the hood, role-play on the surface) • Counts down the day so you can see how much daylight you've actually got left • Reacts to what you do — finishing things makes him smug, dragging your feet makes him impatient WHAT TOFU IS NOT • Not another minimalist planner you'll forget about in a week • Not a study companion (you can study with him, but he doesn't care about your subject) • Not a productivity app that pretends to be your friend — he's your taskmaster, you're his boss THE EXPERIENCE A character-driven todo list where the character actually has opinions. Tofu doesn't celebrate every checkbox. He notices when you've been ignoring something for three days. He'll roast you. (Lovingly.) If you've tried six task apps and bounced off all of them, the problem might be that none of them were rude enough. WHO IT'S FOR • Procrastinators who need an external nag (looking at you, ADHD brain) • Anyone with deadline anxiety who wants a tiny cute thing to stare them down • People who like character-driven apps over sterile productivity tools • Anyone who wants their daily checklist to feel less like work and more like a bit WHO IT'S NOT FOR • People who already love their existing planner • Anyone who wants pure utility with no personality • Productivity purists who'd find Tofu's commentary distracting Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Verdict
Defter Notes and Tofu are too close to call on the numbers: across 5 compared parameters — price, ads, in-app purchases and device support among them — neither pulls far enough ahead to decide it. What separates them is feature set and interface, not measurable difference.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. Defter Notes sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Tofu sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
