Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Blind Mahjong at 4.9 against SoundEcho's 4.3. Blind Mahjong also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 5 weeks) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.0). SoundEcho's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 67%) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Blind Mahjong sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and SoundEcho sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Blind Mahjong holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.3. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 7 and 3 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 67% of Blind Mahjong's written reviews are positive against 100% of SoundEcho's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Blind Mahjong ships an update fortnightly, SoundEcho every 5 weeks. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
