The National Council of Khmer Language of the Royal Academy of Cambodia is a national institution established to preserve and develop the Khmer language and script in a sustainable manner, and to preserve the Khmer national identity. The National Council of Khmer Language has 17 technical committees: the Committee of Agriculture, the Committee of Mathematics, the Committee of Chemistry and Physics, the Committee of Vocabulary and Loanword, the Committee of Philosophy, the Committee of Historical, the Committee of Information and Technology, the Committee of Linguistics, the Committee of Geography, the Committee of Cultural and Fine Arts, the Committee of Political Science, the Committee of Economic Science, the Committee of Educational Sciences, the Committee of Health Science, the Committee of Architecture and Construction, the Committee of Spelling and Reading, and the Committee of Literature. Each committee is responsible for collecting words and defining existing technical terms, creating new vocabulary words by French and / or English words equivalent to the parent words, where possible, and managing the technical database. Every technical term of each committee has to be ready before submitting to the National Council of Khmer Language to review and approval. Terminologies approved by the National Council of Khmer Language will be published as a glossary. According to the development of technology and to promote the dissemination of Khmer language to readers and scholars across the country and the globe, the National Council of Khmer Language has developed an online dictionary software and a smart phone application which are new and popular medias nowadays. Searching for new words or terminologies digitally by using the internet or a smart phone application is easy and time-saving. Everyone who wishes to easily search for new root words or technical terms which match to English and/ or French words approved by the National Council of Khmer Language can simply use a smartphone application.
