Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: Coptic Scholar at 100% against Youth Catechism's 0%. Youth Catechism's advantage is rating (4.8 vs 4.0) and update cadence (monthly vs every 5 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Youth Catechism holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Youth Catechism has 15 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 0% of Youth Catechism's written reviews are positive against 100% of Coptic Scholar's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Youth Catechism ships an update monthly, Coptic Scholar every 5 months. The most recent releases landed on September 29, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
