Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: StepsBot at 70% against Steps's 0%. StepsBot also leads on update cadence (weekly vs monthly) and ratings volume (26 vs 4). Steps's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (4.5 vs 4.2). On price, in-app purchases, monetization model and device support there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. StepsBot sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and Steps sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Steps holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: StepsBot has 26 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 70% of StepsBot's written reviews are positive against 0% of Steps's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
StepsBot ships an update weekly, Steps monthly. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 12, 2026 respectively.
