Tale Virtues is an app that helps parents introduce children to virtues through fairy tales. Seven decks, one for each way of being good: Courage, Kindness, Honesty, Loyalty, Humility, Patience, and Wisdom. Made for the quiet hour, when a parent and a child sit together, look at one card, and talk. There is no quiz, no streak to defend, no notification asking for more attention than the moment deserves. WHAT'S INSIDE Each card pairs a virtue with a classic fairy tale, drawn from the Brothers Grimm, Hans Christian Andersen, Aesop, George MacDonald, and other beloved storytellers. The front shows an original illustration and a single thought about the virtue. The back reveals the tale and the meaning it gently carries. A simple bottom sheet opens into a gentle retelling, three discussion prompts, and one fun fact. The retellings are written in language a four-year-old can follow and a nine-year-old will not feel patronized by. Grown-ups can read, explain, skip, linger, or let the conversation go wherever it wants to go. HOW IT WORKS Tap a card to flip it. Swipe to the next one. Heart what you love to keep it close. That's the whole interaction. No accounts, no logins, no typing, no clutter. WHAT'S FREE, WHAT'S NOT Two decks are free forever: Courage and Kindness, with 100+ cards between them. The other five decks can be unlocked with a single optional in-app purchase. No subscriptions, no upsells inside the cards. A QUIET PROMISE Tale Virtues collects no data. No accounts, no analytics, no ads, no trackers. The app works without an internet connection once it's installed. We made this choice because it felt right for an app you'll use with your child. A FEW WAYS TO USE IT There's no one way to use Tale Virtues. Here are a few that have worked for us. The deck at a glance. Open a deck and you'll see all the cards listed. You can scan the titles for what fits the moment: the question they ask out of nowhere, the curious quietness on the ride home from school, the precious five minutes before dinner. The virtue, and the tale behind it. Choose a card, and tap to go deeper into the virtue. The retelling is there if you'd like it. A deeper conversation, if you want one. Each card opens into three short questions, meant to start a conversation rather than test what was understood. Some nights one question is enough. Some nights one question is one too many. Whichever fits the moment. A daily moment, if you'd like one. If you'd like a daily ritual with your child, the app can offer one virtue a day at a time of your choosing. Used a little, Tale Virtues can become a small ritual. Used now and then, it's a quiet companion for moments that would otherwise pass by.
