The InfoCons App helps you become an educated consumer by bringing tons of vital information regarding your food choices, electrical appliances and other non-food products, as well as emergency numbers from all around the world. The InfoCons app is a tool dedicated to consumer protection. Regardless of location or spoken language, one can query the InfoCons database by scanning the barcode from any food product, the QR code from any electrical appliance (fridges, freezers, storage units, washing machines, dishwashers, washer-dryers, televisions, monitors and other displays, air conditioners, cooker hoods and many others; sold in the EU after 2019) or by using the search field directly. A successful food product identification brings you the following options and details: (1) General information - Name of product, product manufacturer, product ingredients and product image. (2) Additives details – Provides the names of additives, quantity of additives and, for logged in users, the definition of additives. (3) Highlighted allergen list. (4) The calculator - Provides estimates of the number of calories you eat based on quantity of food. The calculator also provides information about the amount of time you should walk, run or pedal to burn calories consumed. (5) Warnings emitted by the European Union as well as other countries for that product type. (6) Markers based on your preferences - The app highlights values that are not in accordance with your choices, which you are able to set through the “My Choice” section (for logged in users). (7) Save product in a lightbox, called “Saved products”, this is where you can analyze your products further (for logged in users). (8) Product Recycle options. (9) Complaint form – This can be used to file a complaint in certain conditions (for logged in users). (10) Fill missing details form – This can be used to add details that you believe are lacking from the product description or ingredients list (for logged in users). A successful electronic appliance identification brings you the following options and details: (1) General information such as name, manufacturer and technical details. (2) Manufacturer details. (3) The calculator, which estimates its energy consumption for multiple time frames, such as a month, a year or the length of the products warranty. (4) The product comparator. Inside the Saved products section, a logged in user will find all saved products and a scan log. By selecting a set of saved products, you can review their added values for salt, sugar, additives and calories. Each additive is explained and counted. The app also features a SOS section, where you will find emergency numbers from all around the world. InfoCons is a non-governmental, apolitical, representative, private, non-profit, distinct and indivisible, independent consumer association based on democratic principles, which defends consumer rights and, also, a founding member of the Federation of Consumer Associations. Content in the app is available in 33 languages. Terms of Use (EULA): https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

About

Blob

Turn everyday waste into useful information for a cleaner environment. Blob helps you identify waste using on-device machine learning, explore reported waste on an interactive map, and contribute observations that help reveal local pollution patterns. **SCAN WASTE** Use your iPhone camera to scan waste around you. Blob analyzes images and identifies waste types, helping you understand what you have found. **AI POWERED RECOGNITION** Blob uses machine learning directly on your iPhone to recognize waste without relying entirely on remote AI services. Your device analyzes images, making waste identification accessible wherever you are. **EXPLORE THE MAP** Explore reported waste on an interactive map. See where litter has been reported and discover local patterns that may need more attention. **EVERY OBSERVATION COUNTS** Scan waste and contribute to Blob's growing environmental dataset. Every contribution helps build a clearer picture of waste in your community. **UNDERSTAND LOCAL POLLUTION** Explore the types of waste identified and the locations where observations have been recorded. This information can help communities recognize local pollution patterns and identify areas for future cleanup efforts. **STARTING IN ROMANIA, LOOKING TOWARD THE WORLD** Blob starts in Romania, with a vision of expanding internationally. The project aims to make waste identification and environmental monitoring accessible to communities around the world. **HOW IT WORKS** 1. Open Blob. 2. Point your iPhone camera at waste. 3. Scan the object. 4. Let Blob analyze and identify it. 5. Contribute your observation. 6. Explore reported waste on the map. **SUPPORTED BY ING BANK** Blob was developed with financial support from ING Bank through the Robotics and Programming Scholarship Fund, a program that supports young people developing projects in programming, robotics, and technology. **FROM EVERYDAY OBSERVATIONS TO ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION** A single piece of litter may seem insignificant, but many observations can reveal patterns that would otherwise be difficult to identify. Blob brings together machine learning, community observations, and environmental awareness to help people document waste and better understand pollution in the places where they live. We start in Romania. Together, we are building a cleaner future.
