Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Shrine Comics at 5.0 against ReadManga's 4.3. Shrine Comics also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 80%). ReadManga's advantage is update cadence (every 2 months vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (154 vs 17). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shrine Comics sells 12 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month and ReadManga sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.89 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Shrine Comics holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ReadManga has 154 ratings behind it against 17, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of Shrine Comics's written reviews are positive against 80% of ReadManga's.
Shrine Comics ships an update every 4 months, ReadManga every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
