Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: MX Player at 4.4 against MFDC's 2.0. MX Player also leads on ratings volume (14K vs 2) and review sentiment (16% vs 0%). MFDC's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 5 weeks vs every 14 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
