BuildTrader

Building materials, tools and equipment parts, and the local trades who put them in. Buy and sell direct: pick it up nearby, or have it shipped anywhere in the US. One app instead of a marketplace, a contractor directory, a parts catalog and four tabs of price research. ONE APP, THE WHOLE JOB Materials. Every job ends with material nobody needs. Half a pallet of pavers, twelve bags of insulation, three hundred feet of romex, headed for a dumpster because finding the person who needs it is harder than replacing it. Post it and it shows up for contractors and DIYers nearby. Browse lumber, flooring, tile, drywall, insulation, roofing, doors and fixtures, filtered by category, condition, price and distance from your zip. Tools and parts. A national exchange for used tools and equipment parts, shipped anywhere in the US. Sell the drill that sits idle: 10% of the order total plus 50 cents when it sells, and that's everything. Buyers pay through the site and the money is held until tracking shows delivery. Parts are searched by what they fit, not just what they're called. Services. Hire a local pro, or list yourself and get hired. Plumbers, electricians, carpenters, HVAC, roofers, masonry crews, haulers, cleaners, demo crews and handymen, from a licensed construction company to someone with a truck on a Saturday. PHOTOS FILL THE FORM Upload photos of what you're selling and the listing fills itself in. Title, category, condition, quantity and brand on materials. Brand, model number and category on tools. Part number, OEM or aftermarket, and what it fits on parts. You check it and publish. It never guesses to fill a box. What it can't read it leaves for you: a missing field costs you one entry, a wrong one costs a return. NEED IT GONE, OR NEED IT PLOWED Junk pickup that prices in both directions: haulers bid to take it, and good material gets another life instead of a landfill. Snow removal for the months nobody remodels. Conduct ratings on jobs, never star ratings on goods. LEARN IT, THEN BUILD IT Step-by-step DIY guides written for a driveway and a weekend, with the material list and what it costs. WHAT MATERIALS COST RIGHT NOW A live commodity tracker for what a job is built from: lumber, copper, aluminum, zinc, iron ore, gas and crude, plus scrap metal and price indexes for gypsum board, roofing, ready-mix, pipe, insulation and siding. Ten years of history on each. When copper scrap runs, that box of leftover wire in the garage is worth real money. Sourced from the IMF and U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics via the St. Louis Fed. Every figure names the month it covers. KNOW THE COST BEFORE YOU CALL A cost guide for 98 common projects across 18 categories. Set the size, condition, finish and access, add your zip, and get a localized planning range with the assumptions shown. Turn the material side into a shopping list, then send a private quote request to local pros. PROJECT TOOLS Twenty material calculators: concrete, drywall, flooring, tile, insulation, siding, paint, board feet, studs, decking, fence and roofing. Work out what you need, check whether a listing nearby covers it, and estimate weight and trips before you borrow the truck. HOW IT WORKS Materials are local pickup: message the seller, agree a time and place, and handle payment between yourselves. BuildTrader never takes a cut of a materials sale and never sits between you and your money. Tools and parts are the opposite, on purpose: they ship nationwide, buyers pay through the site, and the seller is paid after delivery. One flat 10% + 50c fee when it sells, nothing else. Listings show an approximate area, never a street address. Exact pickup details stay private. Every listing shows when the seller last confirmed it, and stale listings pause themselves. FOUNDING TRADERS Founding Traders get BT Materials & Services features free for life. Post a listing to claim a spot. Built for merchants, not corporations. Reconnecting merchants and traders.
