Verdict
The clearest difference is review sentiment: ExamCram at 100% against Hesse Cards's 52%. ExamCram also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (42 vs 11). Hesse Cards's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.
Scored on Price · Rating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings · Update frequency · Ads · In-app purchases · Monetization · Best chart rank · Devices · Requires iOS
Both are free to download. ExamCram sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Hesse Cards sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $12.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
Hesse Cards holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 42 and 11 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of ExamCram's written reviews are positive against 52% of Hesse Cards's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
ExamCram ships an update monthly, Hesse Cards every 6 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and November 4, 2026 respectively.
