Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: DungeonSquad at 4.8 against DragonSpear's 4.6. DungeonSquad also leads on update cadence (every 8 days vs every 4 weeks) and ratings volume (610 vs 58). DragonSpear's advantage is review sentiment (80% vs 71%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

CostPrice · In-app purchases · Ads · Monetization

DragonSpear costs $4.99 and DungeonSquad $4.99 up front. DragonSpear sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and DungeonSquad sells 16 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

ReceptionRating · Positive reviews · Number of ratings

DungeonSquad holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: DungeonSquad has 610 ratings behind it against 58, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 80% of DragonSpear's written reviews are positive against 71% of DungeonSquad's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

UpkeepUpdate frequency

DragonSpear ships an update every 4 weeks, DungeonSquad every 8 days. Both last shipped on October 27, 2026.
