Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
Map Wars holds the better App Store score, 4.0 against 3.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Map Wars has 343 ratings behind it against 48, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 53% of Map Wars's written reviews are positive against 73% of Thrones War's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.
Map Wars ships an update weekly, Thrones War every 4 months. The most recent releases landed on October 12, 2026 and October 11, 2026 respectively.
