The Ani Mobile App aims to introduce the Archaeological Site of Ani, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016, to a larger audience and to share scientific information about the site more accessible using modern communication technologies. The app presents information about 45 structures in the city of Ani and its surrounding in three languages while categorizing the info such as history, architecture, art history, and architectural preservation. Four main routes based on the locations of different structures allow the users to visit and experience the Ani Archaeological Site on specific themes. The users can also create their itineraries by selecting different structures! The users can visit Ani and its surroundings by listening to its multilayered history voiced by Mahir Günşiray, Şenay Gürler, Tilbe Saran, and Görkem Yeltan in Turkish, Dr. Elmon Hançer in Armenian, and Dr. Christina Maranci, Veronica Kalas and Robert Dulgarian in English. Besides the glossary containing the meanings of technical terms, the guiding bibliography for more comprehensive research is available in the application for anyone interested. A quiz for users who want to measure their knowledge about Ani is also among the content. Nothing renews. Nothing expires. New guides are included in full access as they arrive. WHAT'S INSIDE • Yerevan — Republic Square, the Opera, the Cascade, the Matenadaran, Tsitsernakaberd (free) • Garni Temple — Armenia's only Greco-Roman temple, and the Symphony of Stones • Geghard Monastery — hewn into living rock, UNESCO World Heritage • Khor Virap — the deep pit of St Gregory, with Mount Ararat filling the sky behind it • Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin — the cathedral of the world's first Christian nation • Zvartnots Cathedral — the 7th-century rotunda an earthquake brought down • Tatev Monastery — cliff-top, reached by the world's longest reversible cable car • Sevanavank — two dark churches on a peninsula in Lake Sevan • Haghartsin — honey-coloured churches deep in the forests of Dilijan • Goshavank — a medieval university, and a khachkar carved like lace ...and more added over time. Every guide is cut into short chapters you can take at your own pace. BUILT FOR THE ROAD • Genuinely offline — the audio lives on your phone, it is not streamed • Chapter by chapter, so you listen while you walk and pause while you look • Every guide resumes exactly where you stopped • Plays in the background, with lock screen, AirPods and car controls • Open any site in Apple, Google or Yandex Maps, in one tap • Storage you control — see what each guide takes up, delete it, and it stays yours to download again TIPS FROM PEOPLE WHO LIVE HERE Which ride app to use, and why there is no Uber. Why you need dram and not dollars. What to wear inside a monastery. Which sites pair up on one day's drive. Where the best gata is. Practical advice, not filler. ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN Both the guides and the app speak either language, and the two are chosen separately. Change either at any time. WHO IT IS FOR Independent travellers, road trips with a hired driver, cruise and layover visitors, diaspora coming home, and anyone who would rather have a story in their ear than follow a stranger holding an umbrella.
