About

DiskPress for Files

Features

Save space on your iPhone and iPad while keeping your files ready to use. DiskPress for Files uses native lossless APFS compression and deduplication on supported local files. Files keep their contents, names and locations and open in your usual apps without unpacking. Duplicate copies can share storage while remaining separate, independently editable files. YOUR FOLDERS, YOUR SETTINGS Save a folder from Files and choose Compress only, Deduplicate + compress or Deduplicate only. Optimize one location, run Optimize All, or review a one-time selection. Set exclusions, minimum savings, file size limits, recent-file protection and performance preferences. WORK WITH APPLE SHORTCUTS On iOS 16 or later, list saved folders and start optimization in DiskPress using their current settings. On iOS 27 or later, run saved folders or subfolders in the background and receive a completion summary. You can also pass a folder path inside an already authorized saved location. A path alone never grants access. Each saved folder has an Automation section with Add Location Shortcut, setup help and, on iOS 27 or later, folder path copying. Create, share and schedule shortcuts in Apple's Shortcuts app. Shared shortcuts do not transfer folder permissions. RETURN A COMPRESSED COPY On iOS 27 or later, Compress File Copy accepts a file from another action or a shortcut enabled in the share sheet and returns a separate copy. The original stays untouched. Compression settings and exclusions apply, so some copies remain uncompressed. The result is a normal file with native filesystem compression. Saving it through another app or provider may remove the storage savings. FOLLOW EVERY RUN See live file counts and status messages while DiskPress scans, compares and optimizes. Overview separates compression savings from shared duplicate storage. Results show the current run and existing savings, while Activity records completed, skipped and failed operations. Pause and resume when needed. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No accounts, analytics, uploads or Internet connections. File processing stays on your device. Website links open in your browser, and reports or output files are shared only when you choose. Requires iOS 14 or later and supported writable local APFS storage. Cloud and network locations, aggregate roots such as On My iPhone and folders that restrict required filesystem operations are unsupported. DiskPress does not modify the Photos library. Already compressed images and videos often save little or no additional space. DiskPress does not continuously monitor folders. On iOS 26 or later, a run started in the app can continue in the background when the system allows it. iOS may stop background work or require an unlock. Savings depend on file contents and existing compression or sharing and are estimates. DiskPress is also available separately for macOS. Learn more at https://diskpress.app.
