Verdict
Focus and AI Note Taker both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Focus's written reviews are positive against 69% of AI Note Taker's. Focus also leads on iOS requirement (15.6 vs 18.6). AI Note Taker's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 4 weeks) and ratings volume (312 vs 50). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Focus sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per 7 days and AI Note Taker sells 8 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Focus against 4.8 for AI Note Taker. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: AI Note Taker has 312 ratings behind it against 50, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of Focus's written reviews are positive against 69% of AI Note Taker's.
Focus ships an update every 4 weeks, AI Note Taker every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 21, 2026 respectively.
