Next Ferry

Next Ferry answers one question, quickly: when does the next ferry go? It covers every scheduled passenger and car ferry in Malta, in one app: • Valletta – Sliema • Valletta – Three Cities (Cospicua) • Valletta – Gozo, the fast ferry • Ċirkewwa – Gozo, the car ferry • Sliema – Buġibba – Gozo Open it and you see the next departure, how long you have, and the sailings after it. Pick your line once and it opens there next time. If you allow location, it opens on the ferry nearest you and faces it the way you are travelling. WHAT ELSE IS IN IT Live positions. The Gozo car ferries are drawn on the map where they actually are, with their names, so you can see whether one is crossing or alongside. The queue. How many cars and lorries are waiting at Ċirkewwa and Mġarr right now — the number that decides whether to leave immediately or finish your coffee. A real map. The whole of Malta and Gozo, with the route your line takes and both terminals marked. It is drawn into the app rather than downloaded, so it works with no signal — which is where you usually are. Fares. What each crossing costs, per class, with the date the figures were last checked against the operator, and the part people get wrong said plainly: on the car ferry you pay on the Gozo side. Service updates. Disruptions in force now are shown; changes planned for weeks away are kept out of the way until you want them. Works offline. The last timetable it fetched is kept on the device, so it still answers on a quay with no reception. TWENTY-THREE LANGUAGES English, Maltese, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Greek, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Arabic, Hindi, Bengali, Amharic and Filipino. Choose one in the app; it does not have to match your phone. HONEST ABOUT WHAT IT IS Next Ferry is not a ferry operator and sells no tickets. It reads what Valletta Ferry Services, Gozo Highspeed and Gozo Channel publish and puts it in one place. If an operator changes a sailing without publishing it, this app will be wrong until it catches up — so for a flight or the last crossing of the night, check with them. No account, no sign-up, no advertising, and nothing about you is collected. Your location, if you give it, is used on the device and sent nowhere.
