Verdict
Fora Communities and Co both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 75% of Co's written reviews are positive against 26% of Fora Communities's. Co also leads on ads (none vs shown). Fora Communities's advantage is ratings volume (1.4K vs 18) and monetization model (ad-supported vs free with in-app purchases). On price, rating, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.
On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Fora Communities against 4.7 for Co. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Fora Communities has 1.4K ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two.
