RulerGPS measures the distance between two physical spots using your phone's GPS. You tap Start at one location, walk to the other, and tap End. That's it. The distance shows up at the top of the screen along with the units you picked. A few things people use this for: Checking how far they hit a golf shot. Sizing up a yard, garden, or fence line. Marking practice fields for soccer, football, or pickup games. Estimating walking distance on a trail or around a campsite. Quick property checks before paying for an actual survey. You can set either point first. If you tap End and then go back and tap Start, it works the same way. The number updates as soon as both points are in place. Each point shows a GPS accuracy reading underneath. That tells you the margin your phone is currently giving you. A smaller number means a better fix. If accuracy looks rough, give it a few seconds and try again. Settings let you switch between yards, feet, miles, meters, and kilometers. There is also a toggle for decimals if you want extra precision on shorter distances. The map view can be hidden if you only want the number. If you reset by accident, it asks first. Your last measurement sticks around between launches, so closing the app does not wipe your work. This app is free with ads. If you prefer no ads, there is a one time purchase in the settings that turns them off for good.

Verdict

The call

The clearest difference is rating: RulerGPS at 5.0 against Quick Measure's 4.1. RulerGPS also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Quick Measure's advantage is update cadence (every 8 days vs every 5 months) and ratings volume (19 vs 3). On in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.
