MathsScreen
Read full descriptionHide full description
A fast and accurate assessment of number and arithmetic skills, suitable for children between 5 1/2 and 12 years of age working under supervision of a Teacher or Teaching Assistant. A MathsScreen assessment consists of three number recognition tests and five 60-second arithmetic tests, and should take 10 minutes or less to complete. Assessments can be interrupted if necessary and will resume from the beginning of the most recent test. To launch an assessment, the adult supervising the assessment should scan the unique QR code for the pupil they want to assess. No personally identifiable information is stored on the device. At the end of an assessment, the data is uploaded to oxedandassessment.com and reports can be generated showing ranked scores for a year group. If no internet connection is available, the data can be stored on the device and uploaded at a later date. MathsScreen is suitable for schools and organisations using English as the medium of education.
MindStack Flashcards
Read full descriptionHide full description
MindStack helps you remember what you study. Build flashcards by hand, or let the AI do it for you โ paste text, drop a PDF, snap a photo of your notes, or just type what you want ("20 cards on the Krebs cycle"). The cards then come back to you using FSRS spaced-repetition scheduling, so you only review what you're about to forget. While studying, tap Hint for a nudge or Explain for a quick breakdown when you get something wrong. Run Audit on any deck and the AI flags duplicates, leaky questions, and cards that need a rewrite. Three card types (Q&A, cloze, term and definition), light and dark themes, streaks with freezes for the busy weeks, a +5 daily boost when you want to push, and a home screen widget showing what's due today. iCloud backup is automatic. Anki .apkg imports in two taps. Works offline once your decks are downloaded. The full study engine is free. AI features (generation, Audit, Hint, Explain) include a 30-day trial, then Pro. Built for students, language learners, and anyone who'd rather remember things than re-learn them next month. Verdict
The clearest difference is in-app purchases: MathsScreen at none against MindStack Flashcards's 2. MathsScreen also leads on iOS requirement (15.1 vs 26.0). MindStack Flashcards's advantage is update cadence (every 6 days vs every 18 months). On price, ads and device support there is nothing between them.
