Verdict
The clearest difference is rating: Foodlapse at 5.0 against i's 2.0. Foodlapse also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 15 months). i's advantage is in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ratings volume (34 vs 3). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Foodlapse sells 4 one-off in-app purchases. i asks for nothing beyond the download.
Foodlapse holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 2.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: i has 34 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two.
i ships an update every 15 months, Foodlapse every 2 days. Both last shipped on November 3, 2026.
